In Northport, the Northport Community Arts Center is the place to see an impressive array of musical performances. Concerts range from classical to jazz, violinist to choir, local children's choirs to internationally known stars.
The Glen Arbor Art Association offers several creative residencies each year for writing, visual arts, photography, sculpture, fiber arts, ceramics, music, philosophy and creative research. Art classes are offered for both adults and children at all ability levels and art exhibits are offered throughout the year. The group also hosts the Manitou Music Festival, a collection of events that feature music, dance and film presentations.
The culture and history of the Leelanau Peninsula is protected by organizations such as the Fishtown Preservation Society, a non-profit organization made up of dedicated community volunteers who have come together to save the historical and fishing heritage of Fishtown in Leland and the Leelanau Conservancy, a group dedicated to the conservation of the land, water and scenic character of Leelanau County.
The Great Traverse Lighthouse Museum, Great Lakes Children's Museum and Inland Seas Educational Association provide interactive opportunities to learn about the maritime history and great lakes ecology of the Leelanau Peninsula.
